2013 Nissan R35 GT-R

Grayson's 2013 GT-R checked in at AAM Competition with less than 8,000 miles. He already had a few bolt ons and we knew what to equip it with to complete the bolt on package. On stock turbos and 93 pump gas tune, Grayson's GT-R finished with a peak of 577 whp and 616 ft lbs of torque! Respectively over 650 crank hp! The driveability and instant spool of the stock turbos really makes these cars a blast to drive, now with all the bolt ons and a retune, they really do come to life!

2009 Nissan 370Z 7AT.

Before (with all mods untuned) – 307 whp 253 ft lbs of torque.
After (UpRev tune) - 317 whp 266 ft lbs of torque

Kevin’s baseline was done with all of the above parts installed on the factory tune, and the blue line is the result after the UpRev tune. His 370z is the first car to debut our unofficially released AAM Competition Cold Air Intake. The purpose of the tune is to extract the most “power under the curve” possible which calls for more readily available power. UpRev tunes are great for an overall power increase throughout the whole power band.

Update 3/2/13: One way Nissan sets apart the Sport model of the 370z is by equipping them with VLSD from factory vs the open differential equipped in the Base and Touring models. The importance of a limited slip differential typically slips between the cracks of car mods and is quickly forgotten about. It doesn't take much to break the tires loose on a 370z, and your factory VDC will only correct but so much, what makes it worst is with the open diff, one wheel will spin more than the other! Whether you want to call this unsafe for bad weather driving, or launching at the track, without a doubt this prevents the 370z to put down the maximum amount of power from the hole. Quaife makes a drop in LSD differential for the Base and Touring models, although not the cheapest, this piece has nothing but positive reviews all throughout the internet as the company specializes in differentials! To insure proper care and maintenance, we went the extra mile to replace the differential carrier bearings and oil seals, along with fresh 75w90 differential fluid. Believe it or not, at 22k Kevin's diff fluid was not pretty! Below is a picture of the factory open differential vs the Quaife ATB LSD differential!

2012 Nissan R35 GT-R

We equipped a 2012 Nissan GT-R with our AAM Competition GT650-R power package, end result of 587 wheel hp and 561 ft lbs of torque cranking out over 650 crank hp with just bolt ons (stock rating of 530hp)

The GT650-R power package was put together and designed to safely maximize your GT-R’s stock turbos while increasing power output to about 650 crank HP (570-585+ WHP on 93 pump gas). The addition of upgraded injectors allows your GT-R to run more boost, effectively and safely increasing the power output. This package is great for those who want a full bolt on set up while retaining the drivability of the stock turbos. Power output may vary between different model year GT-Rs

Excitement. Exuberant joy. Some of the words we used to describe the emotions when we saw this car come of the delivery trailer. Another 2012 GT-R, but not just any 2012. A 2012 Black Edition. The Black Edition GT-R adds unique black and red interior combination, lightweight forged Rays wheels, similar to the ones found on the Spec V and Egoist model GT-Rs. We weren't going to modify this car too extensively, just enhance it with basic bolt on upgrades.

From the front of the car, we added AAM Competition S Line intakes, fuel injectors and colder spark plugs from HKS. The intake upgrades improve the GT-R's performance efficiency, as well as increasing throttle response. Fuel injectors and colder spark plugs are critical in the search for more power, as they allow the tuner the freedom to tune the car more aggressively for optimum performance. The exhaust components were the next components to be upgraded, with everything behind the factory turbochargers replaced in favor of AAM Competition parts. The turbo downpipes, midpipe, and rear exhaust section were all upgraded to AAM Competition products.

All of these upgrades combined with a Cobb AccessPort and dyno tune do enough to take the GT-R from really fast to silly fast. A combination of road and dyno tuning finalized any driving imperfections the GT-R might have after the all new parts were installed. Final horsepower output at the drive wheels is a modest 563 and the wheel torque figure around 613. This translates to about 660 engine horsepower, plenty horsepower and torque to get this car to speed and keep it moving. You would be hard pressed to chase down this car to catch a glimpse.

Basic Intake/Exhaust Upgrade was the order of the day for this 370Z. Bryan chose both Stillen products, the very popular Stillen Gen 3 Cold Air Intake, and Stillen True Dual 370Z Exhaust. Like many others, this is Bryan's starting point on his way to further modifications for his 370Z.

Joe's GT-R came by the shop for the basic intake+midpipe upgrade. But then, everything on the GT-R is not so basic is it? A dyno tune with a Cobb AccessPort produced 520AWHP. Check out the pictures!

Brad came to us for an installation of the AEM Cold Air Intake and our AAM Competition Short Tail Exhaust System. He left the shop a very happy customer.

The next car to come out of the performance import factory at AAM Competition is a 2010 370Z 7AT. This build is unique in a sense that very few car builders anywhere in the US had upgraded an automatic 370Z with forced induction. But having built Twin Turbo automatic HR 350Zs and G37s in the past, we knew we were up to the task. What we ended with was a great street car that is, dare we say, more enjoyable than a traditional manual transmission. We know, blasphemy right? But it's hard to say for sure, and you'd have to drive this car for yourself to know where we are coming from. Maybe some of you will be inclined to built your automatic 370Z in the same fashion. Until that time, these pictures and a short video clip will have to suffice.

The cars arrived to us on a tow truck. Both cars hardly driven since the day they were born, even retaining a window sticker from the dealership. Not before long, the cars were in the shop with the engines on the floor. With the engine's out, we can get straight to the good stuff, fitting the VQ37VVEL engines with a pair of Greddy 20G Turbos. The suspension wasn't ignored with the build, the factory coilovers were replaced in favor of more advanced KW Variant 3 units. Both the Nismo and the Sport model were fitted with this coilover kit. The new turbos installed on the motor are a beautiful thing. The Greddy 20G turbos are large enough to flow massive amounts of horsepower, yet sized appropriately to avoid annoying turbo lag found in other turbo upgrade kits on the market. The bright red illuminated Defi gauges look right at home in the factory gauge bezels. Boost, exhaust gas temp, and oil temperature can all be monitored simultaneously with this setup. At the end of the journey, the cars end up on our dyno machine, ready to be tuned. The Nismo finished with a stellar 536 RWHP and the Sport finished with an equally impressive 491 RWHP.

Michael D.'s GT-R was the next in line for our extremely popular GT900-R turbo upgrade kit. With this turbocharger upgrade, our GT-R customers usually see a performance increase in excess of 300 additional AWHP.

Dan's GT-R came to us for the 150awhp upgrades so popular with our customers. Exhaust, Mid-pipe, High Flow Cat Downpipes, Intakes, Injectors and colder spark plugs were all called upon to improve the GT-R's performance. The car was tuned with a Cobb AccessPort on our in-house dyno machine, and produced 530AWHP.

Bryan's been a great customer for us here at AAM Competition. We've performed a wide range of services for his Z including Intake, Header, and Exhaust Upgrades, an Oil Cooler Kit, Coilover Suspension, Dyno Tuning and most recently upgrading chassis stiffness with aftermarket front and rear sway bars. Take a look at the pictures of this perfectly modified street-driven 370Z.

George brought us his GT-R for the full GT900-R treatment. We installed our GT900-R Turbo Upgrade Kit, along with various Dodson and PPG upgrade components to his transmission. The final power output came to 822 all-wheel horsepower and 718 all-wheel torque. We also fitted the car with a full dry carbon Top Racing widebody aero kit.

Glenn brought us his 09 GT-R all the way down from Massachusetts for us to fulfill his dream of owning the most potent street GT-R in the country. We performed just about every upgrade imaginable to his GT-R. AAM's GT900-R Turbo Upgrade Kit was the turbo upgrade of choice. In addition, AAM Competition's Race Downpipes, MidPipes, Intercooler Kit, Exhaust, Transmission and Oil Cooler Upgrades, Full GR6 rebuild, Upgraded Fuel System, and Full AAM VR38 Engine Blueprint and Balance were added to the build. Glenn's project GT-R is still an ongoing project, so be sure to check back often for updates.

Sanath's GT-R arrived at AAM Competition for our very popular GT550-R Sport Kit. The GT550-R Upgrade Kit includes AAM Competition's V1.5 Intake Kit, Non-Resonated Midpipe, and a customized Cobb Accesport Tune. Sanath's car arrived producing 421AWHP/380AWTQ and left the shop making 473AWHP and 465AWTQ. In our opinion, just the right amount of extra power and performance for a street driven car.

We just completed installing a mint Greddy 20G Twin Turbo Upgrade Kit on a Nismo 350Z HR. AAM Competition Fuel Return Kit, Competition Clutch and Flywheel, AAM Competition Oil Cooler Kit, and AAM Competition 3 inch downpipes and exhaust combine to make on hell of a street car. 550 rear wheel horsepower and 453 rear wheel torque on tap.

Lou's Nissan 370Z came to us all the way from St. Louis, and the second 370Z AAM Competition 370Z Twin Turbo build. Upgraded fuel system, clutch and flywheel, exhaust, and electronics combined with an AAM Competition Twin Turbo kit to produce 470rwhp. All modifications were performed in-house at AAM Competition, and all performance upgrade products on Lou's car were manufactured by AAM Competition.

Eric delivered his car to us all the way from El Paso, Texas. His Peal White Nissan GT-R arrived to relatively stock, with the exception of the tall Powerhouse Amuse rear spoiler on the rear deck. The car was at AAM Competition only for a short period of time. We installed AAM's most popular street upgrade power package for the Nissan GT-R, the AAM GT600-R. The kit included the install of AAM Competition's Version 1 Intakes, High Flow Cat Downpipes, Resonated Mid-Pipe, and turbocharger wastegate actuators. To control the boost levels efficiently, we also custom installed an HKS EVC VI directly into the GT-R's factory dash panel. The car was tuned with the ever popular Cobb AccessPORT, producing a very healthy 560AWHP. Click the link for more pictures on the build!

Installation of HKS Hi Power Exhaust and AAM Competition High flow cats for this 2003 350Z

Our customer Jon brought us his Nissan 370Z for basic performance modifications including an AAM Competition Cold-Air Intake, AAM Competition High Flow Cats, and AAM Competition 2.5" True Dual Exhaust. The upgrades gave Jon just enough of that added edge he was missing from his factory 370Z. After the engine power upgrades were completed, Jon returned to the shop again for a custom headlight install to give his already blacked-out Z an even more aggressive appearance. The Brand New AAM Competition Nissan 370Z Oil Cooler Kit was also installed on Jon's 370Z for added cooling capacity, as the vehicle would be pushed to its limits at the racetrack.

Andrew brought us his 370Z in for an install of our High Flow Cats and 2.5" True Dual Exhaust. Enjoy the pics.
